Library Media Tech Talk

Hello, friends!

This month I have some cool websites and digital tools to share! I learned about most of these in a session while attending the Arkansas Association of Instructional Media conference in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Fun Games

Would You Rather…? Math Game
This is a site you can share with your mathematics teachers!

Factile
Jeopardy style quiz game creator for educators.

Internet Arcade
This site is an archive of old arcade games from the 1970s-1990s. You will find games like Defender, Moon Patrol, Q*bert, and more. We are thinking about using this in a future library lunch program.

Cool Connections

Wild Safari Live
This Nat Geo Wild site allows you to see live video feeds from Africa. This is a cool tool to connect your classroom to a safari at any time!

Other Cool Tools

Formatically
This site automatically formats papers (cover page, works cited, etc) and no account is required.

ProfessorWord
This tool allows the user to get the definition and part of speech for any word on a website. It is a great way for students to identify ACT/ SAT vocabulary words.

Newspaper Generator
I had forgotten about this site! It allows the user to create a .jpg image of a newspaper clipping. They can type in the text they want to be displayed.

Triventy
Triventy is a free collaborative classroom survey tool. It reminds me of  Kahoot! It’s as easy as creating your questions, inviting students to join, and starting the quiz.

What I’m Writing

The editors have completed a book I contributed a chapter to in late 2016. It should be published in the fall. I’ll share more information when it is available.

I have been invited to write my column for ABC-CLIO’s School Library Connection again in 2017-2018. I’m very grateful to the publisher and editors for allowing me to share my voice for another year! Consider subscribing to the magazine!

I hope you enjoy this newsletter program. If you like it, feel free to share it with someone. Take care until next time.
